Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information TarkovRaidCompass ("the Service") collects, how it's used, and who it's shared with. The Service is operated by an individual developer based in Cyprus.

1. Information We Collect

Directly from you, when you create an account:

• Username and password (stored as a salted hash - we never store your plain-text password).
• Your email address, used to send you a password-reset link if you ask for one - we don't send marketing email to it, and accounts created before this was required can add one later from Settings.
• An API token generated for your account, used by the desktop overlay/ uploader to authenticate.
• Your IP address, submitted to Cloudflare Turnstile's CAPTCHA check when you create an account (to deter automated signups), and used server-side to rate-limit abusive traffic.

Generated by your own use of the Service:

• Live position data (in-game X/Y/Z coordinates and facing direction), read for automatic position detection from screenshot filenames, not from image content.
• Quest screenshot import reads an image you choose locally in your browser. The image and recognized text are not uploaded. Only the quest statuses you select and confirm are sent to your account.
• Use game logs and screenshot filenames without installing the companion. Files stay on your computer. Only the reviewed quest or raid metadata, or a new screenshot position, is sent to your account.
• Manual story progress syncs with your account, separately for each mode. Signed-out progress stays on this browser. Game-log story tracking is not automatic.
• Squad party code, if you create or join one, to share live position with teammates.
• Quest/task progress, player level, and item counts, if you use the Quests or Items pages or opt in to automatic quest-log tracking.
• Display preferences, including hidden tasks and per-map display choices, are saved to your account when you are signed in so they can sync across devices.

Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand overall site usage (pages visited, approximate location by country/region, device/browser type) - it does not see your Tarkov account activity or in-game data. This only loads after you dismiss the cookie notice shown on your first visit; if you never dismiss it, it never loads. See Google's own privacy policy for how it handles this data.

2. Payment Information

There are no payments processed under the Service's current free-access model. If a paid tier is introduced in the future, subscription payments would be processed by Paddle.com, who would act as the merchant of record for the transaction - your statement would show a charge from Paddle.com, not directly from us. Your payment card details would be entered directly with Paddle and never pass through or get stored on our own servers - we would only receive confirmation that a payment succeeded, plus a Paddle customer/subscription ID used to keep your account's access in sync, and whatever billing contact details (such as an email address) Paddle itself requires to process the payment.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To operate your account and show your live position back to you (and your squad, if you've joined a party).
• To process payments and manage your trial/subscription status, once billing is enabled.
• To respond to support requests you send us.
• To keep the Service secure (for example, rate-limiting and detecting abuse).

4. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with:

• Paddle.com, to process payments and act as merchant of record, if a paid tier is introduced in the future.
• Resend, to deliver password-reset emails - it only ever sees your email address and the reset link itself, nothing else in your account.
• Cloudflare (Turnstile), to verify you're not a bot at signup - it receives your IP address and a challenge token.
• Discord, for our own internal alerts (e.g. a failed password-reset email, or a new subscription) sent to a private channel we operate - these alerts may include a partially-masked version of your email address or your username, never your password or full account data.
• Google Analytics, for general site-usage statistics - only once you've dismissed the cookie notice. See Section 1 above.
• Share a party code with your squad and see everyone's last screenshot position and facing direction on the same map. Positions update when each player takes a screenshot.
• Squad story progress: Share your story choices and checks with current squadmates. Chapter notes stay private. Turn this off to stop sharing.
• Law enforcement or other parties, only if required by law.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. There is currently no self-service "delete my account" option in the app - to request deletion of your account and associated data, email [email protected] and we will process the request.

6. Data Security

Passwords are stored as salted hashes, never in plain text. The Service is served over HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at, or intended for use by, anyone under 16 (matching our Terms of Service). If you believe someone under 16 has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will remove it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
